Certification Body

for sound level meters and sound calibrators

Manufacturers of sound level meters and sound level calibrators must have a conformity assessment performed before placing their products on the market. Since January 2015, the certificate of conformity may be issued by private-sector companies.

As an accredited and recognized certification body (CB), we are happy to perform the conformity assessment of your sound level meters and sound level calibrators for you.

We are accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065 by the German Accreditation Body DAkkS under the code D-ZE-15183-01 (in German) and recognized under the Measurement and Calibration Act (MessEG) by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) (formerly the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action – BMWK) under the identification number DE 0002 (in German).

Terms and Conditions

If you are interested in a conformity assessment, a certification agreement is concluded between the client and CB SPEKTRA. This agreement is based on the price list and the Testing and Certification Regulations (PZO), which govern the conduct of the certification process.
Sound level meters and sound calibrators available on the market are subject to the following rules and regulations, on the basis of which the conformity assessment is conducted:

  • Measurement and Calibration Act (MessEG) and Measurement and Calibration Ordinance (MessEV)
  • the set of application rules as specified in the respective type approval / type examination certificate (harmonized standard, such as DIN EN 61672, or other technical specification)

The fundamental rules and procedures under which we operate as a certification body, as well as their administration, are non-discriminatory.

Applicants’ access is not restricted or prevented. All services are available to all applicants. They do not depend on the size of the client's company or on membership in an association or group and are not subject to the number of certifications already issued.

There are no unfair financial or other conditions. If anything, our requirements, evaluation, assessment, decision-making and monitoring are limited to matters specifically related to the scope of certification.

The metrological tests are performed in-house in Dresden by our laboratory, which is accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 (D-K-15183-01).
Our experienced laboratory team offers additional services for various acoustic measuring instruments.

We process all requests in the order in which they are received. With a planned turnaround time of no more than 14 days after the order is placed and your measuring equipment is received, we are committed to completing the work quickly. We appreciate your understanding if delays do occur, for example, due to high demand.

When placing an order, please send your sound level meters or sound level calibrators to:
