Calibration of acceleration sensors

Manufacturer-independent services according to international standards

Accelerometers are indispensable for measuring vibrations, shocks and movements in safety-critical and industrial applications. Everyday stresses such as strong shocks or changing operating conditions can alter their properties and impair measurement accuracy.

Not every company has the capacity to calibrate its measuring equipment internally. SPEKTRA LABS therefore offers a manufacturer-independent service for your acceleration sensors to safeguard their functionality and accuracy in the long term. With accredited procedures, individual solutions and short processing times, we ensure that your measuring equipment is always ready for use.

Calibration services for accelerometers

Accelerometers are essential for measuring vibrations, shocks and motion in safety-critical and industrial applications. Our services include the calibration of a wide range of sensors and DUT, including:

  • Uniaxial, biaxial, and triaxial accelerometers
  • Digital and wireless accelerometers
  • Seismic acceleration sensors and accelerometers
  • Accelerometers

To ensure accurate and reliable data, we offer primary and secondary calibrations tailored to your specific requirements and international standards.

Primary calibration

Our primary methods offer the highest precision and are used to calibrate reference standards or internal standards. They are particularly suitable for applications that require maximum accuracy.

  • Calibration according to ISO 16063-11:1999, ISO 16063-16:2014, or DKD-R 3-1 Sheet 4:2018
  • Directly traceable measurement results with minimal measurement uncertainty
  • Ideal choice to validate new sensors and for high-precision applications

Secondary calibration

Secondary calibrations are the best choice for periodic checks during operation and following stresses such as shocks or changes in operating conditions.

  • Calibration according to ISO 16063-21:2003 or DKD-R 3-1 Sheet 3:2018
  • Frequency range: 0.1 Hz...20 kHz (DAkkS-accredited)
  • Measuring range: Acceleration from 0.01 m/s²…250 m/s²
  • Factory calibration according to manufacturer specifications or individual customer requirements

Applications of acceleration sensors

Accelerometers, which come in various sizes and designs, are among the most commonly used sensors in our daily lives. They often perform tasks that are essential to our safety. It is therefore crucial that they be inspected regularly and professionally to ensure they are functioning properly.

Structural
monitoring

To monitor the condition of structures such as bridges, tunnels or high-rise buildings, accelerometers detect potential structural changes.

Seismic
recordings

Highly sensitive seismometers are used to monitor seismic activity such as earthquakes. But geophones also record the impact on nearby infrastructure at large construction sites.

Transportation

Acceleration sensors are not only found in electronic assistants, but also in many automotive testing devices. They are also used to continuously monitor aircraft and the rail network.

Digital life

Our digital lives would not be possible without MEMS. From smartphones to connected buildings, these sensors form the foundation for many useful and safety-critical applications.
